An apartment facing the Tower is many travellers' dream. That also makes it a target for fake listings. Here is where to look, how to check a listing in five minutes, and the three ways to sleep with a view.
Three options: a holiday rental booked on a platform (Vrbo, called Abritel in France), a serviced residence such as La Réserve Paris Apartments on the Place du Trocadéro, or a hotel with a view. Either way, in Paris a holiday rental listing must show a registration number: without it, walk away. And always pay through the platform, never by bank transfer or money order.

Check a listing before you pay
These six checks come from official advice (City of Paris, Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, Service-Public). They take five minutes.
- The registration number. In Paris, every holiday rental must be registered and its number must appear on the listing. No number: do not book.
- The price. A stay far cheaper than nearby listings with the same view is the first sign of a fake listing. Compare.
- The photos. Run a reverse image search: if the same photos appear elsewhere with other contact details, it is a scam.
- Stay on the platform. Be wary of a host who wants to move to email or WhatsApp, or who sends a "secure payment" link or QR code.
- The payment method. Refuse any transfer to a foreign account, cash, money orders (Western Union, MoneyGram) and prepaid vouchers (PCS, Transcash, Neosurf).
- The view. Ask for a photo taken from the window, with the floor number. A photo of the Tower does not prove the flat can see it.
What the law says (and why we list no apartments)
In Paris, a whole home let to tourists is a furnished tourist rental. The owner must register it online and gets a registration number, which must appear on their listings. If it is their main home, they can only let it for 90 days a year. Otherwise they need a change-of-use permit (City of Paris, updated 25/03/2026).
Since the law of 19 November 2024, known as the Le Meur law, anyone who helps to let a furnished tourist rental, even for free, must obtain that number before publishing. That is why we only show platform searches, which take care of it, and serviced residences, which are not private lets.

How can I tell if a Paris apartment is registered?
Look at the listing: in Paris, the rental's registration number must be shown on it. The City of Paris issues this number when the owner registers online. A listing without a number is not compliant.
What is a serviced residence?
Apartments rented with hotel services (reception, housekeeping, concierge). On the Place du Trocadéro, La Réserve Paris Apartments offers 10 apartments of 140 to 300 m², several with a Tower view, with a butler and concierge.

Is an apartment with a view safer than a hotel?
