Why go

  • The world's largest architecture museum, in an exceptional setting at the Palais de Chaillot.
  • The plaster cast gallery: more than 350 plaster casts, some over 10 meters tall, and 60 architectural models.
  • The mural paintings and stained glass gallery: life-size reproductions of French mural art from the 11th to the 16th century.
  • The modern and contemporary architecture gallery: life-size elements, models, drawings, films and photographs.
  • A site right on the Place du Trocadéro: easy to combine with the view of the Eiffel Tower.

The collections

The Cité presents a thousand years of French architecture across three major galleries. The plaster cast gallery traces more than six centuries of monumental architecture, the fruit of over a century of work by the Commission des monuments historiques, founded in 1837.

The mural paintings and stained glass gallery, whose collection began in 1937, presents faithful, life-size reproductions of French mural art from the 11th to the 16th century. The modern and contemporary architecture gallery stands out for its diversity: life-size elements, models, drawings, archival films and photographs offer perspectives on architecture and the city.
